Since so many Members wan’t to have a better banning function, we need you to vote!

There are some problems we are facing with guests being able to chat. And this is spam. Since guests can change there IP and star spamming again, we would be in need to disable guest chatting to get a clean, nice moderated chat.

So please vote and tell us, what you think we should do?

1. Let guests chat and risk them to be spammers

2. Disable guest chatting and only allow registered Members to chat so that they can be banned from your channel entirely.

Please help us make a decision since we wan’t to work with you guys as close as we can!

Spamming and weirdos are a fact of life. But requiring log-in is a far more terrible idea that will lead to empty streams and complaints. No one wants to make accounts. They want to jump in and have fun. Streaming sites rely on this. Business relies on this.

The only people who support this are small time streamers with sensitive hearts, and can’t deal with some negativity on the web. Yes, that is the majority of streamers, but they do not account for the majority of users in streams, who are just as crucial, if not more crucial, to a site’s success. This is an especially TERRIBLE move for business and large streamers who rely on their streams to entertain and inform their supporters, not to mention make a living. This might help some casual guy streaming some furry draws, but it hurts the premium users, who bring in the VAST majority of views and publicity for the site. Not to mention Picarto’s income. And in the end, that hurts the VAST majority of ALL site users. The chatters are VERY IMPORTANT. The poll is ALSO a terrible idea, as the artists who bring in thousands of views a week for the vast majority of users on the site, and can DEAL with a little negativity will be too busy working and streaming to vote.

Here some better technical solutions:

1. STOP SHOWING WHO IS BANNED. STOP INFORMING PEOPLE THEY HAVE BEEN BANNED. LET THEM TYPE BUT DISABLE THE MESSAGE APPEARANCE. If you’re banned, you shouldn’t know it. Then you have no idea if you’re even being seen.

2. Introduce a message limit and character limit.

3. Remove all emoticons except those for paying subscribers.

4. Allow chats to enable/disable member-only chat, at their leisure and choice. Make it a premium feature, in fact!

5. ALLOW BANNING GUESTS. YES THEY’LL CHANGE THEIR IP. BUT MOST SPAMMERS ARE KIDS WHO DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO THAT ANYWAY.

6. ALLOW CHAT CLEARING.

Removing guest chat is like removing all anon from the web. Basically every community site would come crashing down. It’ll destroy the service, cost active streamers money, and basically lead to people not wanting to use the site. I sure wouldn’t. This question is also worded terribly, and implies there’s SPAMMERS EVERYWHEERRREEEE, which I’ve seen very few of, and have had mods easily ban.

Ultimately, if you’ve pissed off some kid to the point he’s going to spam your chat, he’ll find ways to get in there. Every house has multiple computers and multiple networks. So banning an IP address isn’t going to do shit anyway. Toughen up. Getcha balls up. Yes, I am probably the most active and prolific streamer on the site. But that also makes me the BIGGEST target for spam and haet. And guess what? I don’t get any. Ever. Because I don’t make a fuss about it. It’s a fact of life, and when it comes along, you deal.

Don’t do this, Picarto. And you, reblog this if you’re in support of getting your vagina or balls up, logical thinking, and the best possible course of action for active experienced streamers, active and experienced chatters, and newcomers all around.
