A simple PSA, lest your tail-sporting character look like they’re walking around with a really long poop hanging out of their pants.
That doesn’t look right though. Unless the tail your drawing isn’t a continuation of the spine (which a tail is by definition) it wouldn’t be that high… your tail bone, the sacral and coccygeal plexus sections of the spine, do in fact go down the crack. Having it that high would be anatomically incorrect…
Sorry this is a little messy, I hope it illustrates why the way people tend to draw tails is not wrong.
if you want to see tails coming out of buttholes I can dredge up some art of that, but the tail as drawn here isn’t it.

good tip for anthro-dragon artists out there
have a good base on the hips- not floating up on the spine of the back, not coming straight down from the ass (or curving from a smooth belly/crotch then back in-between the ass cheeks, as a lot of anthro artists seem to like to draw), but based firmly on the hips, flowing smoothly from the rest of the spine
