I made a program that allows you to use the keyboard in the Coliseum. You press a key, it clicks a button, mouse free. It doesn’t touch the server, and the user has to press keys constantly. Not automatic, won’t hurt the server, it sounds fine right?

I wanted to cover my butt, so I had a thread in the Help Center and sent a Contact Us form. People posted in my thread saying they liked the idea, but the thread got taken down cause I explained a bit how the program works. FR Customer Service replied to me a couple days later, actually rather polite, and told me that the program breaks a rule in the TOS.

Specifically, it’s a program that can “shortcut or alter site functions to run or appear in ways that are not intended by site design,” which isn’t allowed.

I know that having keyboard controls in the Coliseum isn’t intended by site design, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. This can only help people, right? What, this can’t be “reviewed thoroughly on a case-by-case basis” as it says in the TOS for stuff that can hurt the server?

Yeah, keyboard control will probably be implemented, but with all the problems in the Coli still, that’ll be far in the future. It’s frustrating to have the program right here, and I can’t do anything with it. Maybe I’ll challenge the ruling or something, but I’m don’t want to have to. I want to help people but I’m not allowed..

I’m kinda tempted to release this program anyway to anyone that wants it, but that’d be risking my dragons.

This is stupid. I shouldn’t have asked anyone about it. I should have just released it.
