About a week ago I posted this.

I’ve been getting horrible messages like this in my ask for months, including:

and my personal favorite

After getting the message saying “Just go kill yourself” I was completely done dealing with this person’s horrible messages and replied with just an “Okay.” and logged off tumblr.

About a week later I logged back on with 17 messages in my ask, most of them from the anon. I scrolled down and at first when I logged off, the anon messaged me things like

I scrolled up more and all of a sudden they started sending me more and more messages like

This was extremely surprising to me. I thought “After all those horrible messages you sent to me for MONTHS about hating me and wanting me dead, you say ‘sorry’ and that you ‘cant be responsible for someone’s suicide’?”

But I guess the lesson goes like this:

DONT TELL ANYONE TO KILL THEMSELVES UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED FOR WHAT MIGHT ACTUALLY HAPPEN

in fifth grade i got bullied out of my school, but the online messages continued, many of them like the “go kill yourself”. So in one of my visits to tennessee, i did.

i staged my own death. my dad went along with it, there was even a fake news article made (we had some connections). The hate stopped. 

4 years later many of them still dont know im alive. But one person, the one person who got everyone to hate me so much posted on my facebook page a year later: “i’m sorry”

In short, think before you act.  You are indeed responsible (morally if not legally) for someone’s suicide if you bullied them into it.  

Just what is the point of such bullying anyway?  So you hate them and think they’re awful.  Hate being around them?  So the fuck what?  Here’s what you do then — you go your own way and leave them to go theirs.  That’s right.  You walk away.  Live your own life and let them live theirs which has absolutely nothing to do with yours.  Yeah, the world doesn’t revolve around you, believe it or not.  It revolves around none of us.

So — walk away.  Trust me, they will have friends without you.  They will have followers without you.  In fact, without you being an utter asshole degrading them all the time, they’re far more likely to have the self-confidence to make friends they have more in common with.  Go find the people you have more in common with instead of obsessing over them.

Even if you have to be around them because you work or go to school with them, you just keep it professional and when you leave at the end of the day leave it at school or work and go live your life instead of obsessing about them.

Geeze.  The one who can’t do that — to the point of daily reading someone’s blog and leaving shit messages like that or bullying and harassing them in school or the work place — is the pathetic one.  If that’s you, do yourself a favor and make the decision to just leave the person alone instead of having them eat up your whole life and go live and enjoy your own.
