o..kay…?
you want professionalism, but you cannot afford to pay….
and you state it so “matter of factly”…

I took the time to reply and added a friendly advice to explained why it’s NOT a good idea to ask…

Whoa-whoa-whoa, how many texts. And ZeldaCw is right. And there is always the easier solution for such “Requests”.

To not to be upset and not upset anybody who asked for such a “help” you can always say two things. “Hi! Sorry, but I’m busy” or “Hi, sorry I’m busy but here is my commission info”.

Because it’s a work that should be paid for. if person with request have no funds it’s not your problem and not a reason to be upset. And it’s not rude to link them to your prices when you’re professional/freelancer.

But seeing artists who keep damping the prices, I’m not surprised that someone have free time to start such projects for free. It’s another subject to discuss though.

“Professional work”->“can’t pay”

Student or not, I have followers younger than me, and most likely still in school who pay for their commissions. Saying “sorry I can’t pay because I’m a student” is bullshit.

  8. terotearena-blog said: I think the fact that they acknowledged you as a professional and not treat you like one is extremely offensive - so I think you did the right thing. I mean, had they worded their message so that seemed more like they’re asking you for a favour —

    Thanks everyone! I read all the comment and reblogs. I got a lot of good advice (and kind words that cheered me up) here...

  12. whiskeyii said: Hm…it’s not exactly rude, but somehow, the tone of your post comes across as very blunt. You use harsh words like “You wouldn’t dare” and “before you demand”. I think it made the other person feel defensive, even if you didn’t mean to.

  18. ichinisa said: i get the feeling that young people assume you are mad all the time in Internet unless you use smileys, it has happened to me a lot, its probably just an ill-at-ease teen and the artists he said that agreed were probably not neeeaarly as good as you
