I see quite a lot of confessions about people who want to befriend a certain artist for whatever reason, but can’t because of their popularity.

This is debatable. Some popular artists are friendly and will help you try to become better at art to help you gain followers/customers. I’m friends with a few popular artists and I’m not very “popular”. :I
