Love the art-work, it’s a fabulous piece, but can we just talk about this for a second.

Remember how society views men and women differently? Well, here’s a great example of a stereotypical name men are called: pigs.

This depicts a girl, dressed provacatively, obviously on a subway. But it’s not men gawking and drooling over her, it’s pigs.

Because apparently being attracted to someone and looking at them with desire makes you a low, barn animal esque person who should be detested and viewed as less than human.

Interesting narrative for a supposedly patriarchal society…

really Liv?? public transportation is where women are harassed daily around the world. situations just like this. this piece is about the way a woman feels, being ogled like she’s their next meal, when she’s just trying to go about her day. Everyday Sexism is a project that highlights women’s accounts like this and there are thousands upon thousands of these stories (it’s definitely worth a google). men dont just look at women with “desire”. they actually physically and verbally harass them. and it happens way too often to not call them out on it….

But Liv just HAD to mention that she’s dressed “provocatively”, as if that would somehow excuse men gawking at her like deviants.
For some reason most women do NOT gawk like that, even if a shirtless man with a pretty sixpack is in the train. For some reason most women know that gawking at other people is not respectful and polite. For some reason women feel shame and drop their gaze when the person they’ve been looking at notices them and stares right back at them.
One main reason why I hate summer is, that men always look at me like they’re mentally comparing me to other women and giving me points from 1 to 10 (ugly to fuckable) and even though I don’t like to run around in “skimpy” clothing, some summers are so hot that I can’t help it. And men are just waiting for it, they are just sitting in the subway - straddle-legged, trying to seem dominant -, examining me and every young woman that enters the train from the bottom to the top and then they just keep staring, making every woman feel uncomfortable. They aren’t human to me anymore, they’re predators. The way they look at women isn’t “interested”, it isn’t just “Oh, look she’s really attractive and dang that ass”, it’s a meat inspection. They lack the most simple forms of respect and compassion and that has nothing to do with being attracted to someone.
I personally think that comparing men to pigs is an insult to pigs, but I get the message behind it. Because from time to time it really feels as if a bunch of uncultured, dirty monsters are staring at you.
And god damnit if someone replies to this with “But not all men are like that )’:” I’m going berserc, because I DON’T CARE.
I don’t fucking care if not ALL MEN are like that, when they make me so uncomfortable that I rarely leave the house in summer and avoid some parts of the city completely because of them lurking in the shadows.
I don’t care if not ALL MEN lack respect, when I gave up one of my favorite hobbies (swimming), because wearing a bikini became kind of a big deal for me thanks to men and society.
