The reason we can identify the left images is because they serve a unique, explicit purpose in our industrialized society. Knowing the name of a brand or company is essentially a prerequisite for utilizing their service.

I don’t have to be able to identify a maple leaf to benefit from its photosynthetic abilities.

Obviously it’d be great if we knew both sides, but I don’t think it suggests the degradation of society just because I cannot recall the names of a handful of leaves.
