You simply didn’t bother to read the book or watch the movie if you’re able to get behind this bull shit. There is no lopsided power dynamic. Elio is mature, both mentally and sexually, and is clearly having consensual sex with women; there is no loss of innocence happening. Even his parents approve of the relationship.

You probably have no realistic concept of the world’s age of consent laws, especially in 1983 Italy, so I’ll just leave this here… it’s a MODERN DAY age of consent graphic of North America.

If you’re mad about this fictional movie, you should be outraged at our real-life age of consent laws… and it’s clear that your focus is elsewhere.
