honestly, the whole N situation makes me so weary.

as an artist, i’ve been taken advantage of before. i’ve drawn things without getting compensation. i’ve drawn fully colored/fully shaded fullbodies for (what i found out later was) the equivalent of $5.

it doesn’t feel nice. it doesn’t feel nice at all knowing you put in hours and hours of work for like, a sandwich or something. and in my experience, it’s worse than never getting paid at all, because there’s a good chance that person consciously knows they’re underpaying you. but they choose to do it anyways.

its awful. and i love making art. i really do like drawing other people’s characters, because the amount of love people put into their characters amazes me sometimes. but i’m tired of being used. i’m tired of seeing other well-meaning people like me get used too.

i’ve posted on DR before about uncool commissioners before, but this whole thing is just… i don’t even know how to feel anymore. i’m getting numb to this kind of thing, and it’s really sad. i wish i didn’t feel so cynical about the community. but i really can’t help it.

I’ve been used and abused for my work as well. It’s not fucking fair getting ripped off when you work on something and either don’t get the half of a trade you’re waiting for, the full pay, or someone picking apart every last damn pixel because they feel like being super pricks after it’s been posted and not saying a fucking word on wips or streams.

The first time I opened commissions, they were SEVERELY UNDERPRICED because I knew, I FREAKIN KNEW that a lot of users on dA are a bunch of cheap asses. I raised the prices once to a better set(still underpriced), and I barely get any traffic. It’s bullshit tbh.
