my college animation professor worked on jimmy neutron and he was just like “listen yeah we knew and we just didn’t have the time or money to care”. the power would go out at the studio at least once a week and they would just have to leave until it came on the next day. jimmy neutron’s production team saw some shit

i’m looking at this story and this gif and now i’m just constantly imagining an animator staring vacantly at their computer. they turn to a coworker and ask “do you think nickelodeon would notice or care if we just animated a whole episode where everyone stayed in a t-model the whole way”

“i’m so tired,” they add

Between my boyfriend and I, I cannot tell you all the shit I’ve seen while working in 3D animation. Such shit. Horrors beyond horror.

So many all nighters, So many server crashes. Tech people who leave work early to avoid having to fix said server crashes. Massive loss of data. Programs that crash for absolutely no reason. Impossible client requests. Impossible clients. Having to do not only your own job, but the jobs of your incompetent co-workers. Working from home just to meet a deadline and not making overtime. Killing yourself to make a deadline just to discover the following morning that the deadline has been pushed back and now you’re ahead of schedule. Not getting paid in a timely manner. Or at all.

Let me tell you, there are two very important things you absolutely must have in a commercial animation studio that you rarely get:
a) Working, up to date technology and
b) A leader with time management skills

Bless everyone who works in 3D animation, whether they enjoy their jobs or not. Bless them all.
