*whispers* stfu and stop telling people they’re too big for their horses when their horses are tracking up and using themselves well.
Also, you have no idea how much someone weighs from a photo and I can’t help but notice that big, tall men never get flack for riding horses even though they weigh as much or more than all of the women who get picked on.
One thing I notice, without FAIL, whenever the “someone is too big for their horse because they’re too tall or too heavy” thing goes around, they never once mention Icelandic horses. Not ever even once. Many Icelandics are very short in stature to the point where it looks funny when grown men ride them, but grown men do.
Funny then, how these small horses (you could call them ponies but for some dumbass reason people see this as an insult) never make it into discussions about who should be riding them, even if its a grown man noticeably taller than the horse is. But the man doesn’t “look fat” ergo he can’t be too big for the horse right?
It’s only soft bodied American girls who had a hard time keeping up with exercise this winter who need to worry about getting too heavy for their horses, even if their horses are 17 hands high monsters that easily dwarf the stout little Icelandic or Fjord horses that everyone adores.
It’s even worse.
Ever seen those awesome photos of historical re-enactment riders, in full plates doing jousting? Yeah, they are HEAVY. Tall, muscular mean in full steel plate. They weight 140kg and UP.
Anyone picking on them? No? Still just the girls who weight half of that and are no problem whatsoever for their horses when they ride them 1-2hr a day on average?
Yeah, fuck shit people who pick on them.
