As someone who grew up in Hawaii that is EXACTLY a how we speak

This is actually legit. A retired Cornell professor spent twelve years working with native speakers to get it translated, then got the final product published. As someone who cares about valuing local languages and dialects and treating them as worth learning/producing things in, this makes me really happy.
